Memorial Day

Nice to finally get some sleep.  Reading the book Demon of the Waters, not bad thus far.

Going to sleep, starting midnight to noon shift in 4 hours.

Made it to Kodiak Island

Some epic views pulling into Kodiak.  We had some crew shuttled out to us and we are starting survey tomorrow morning.  Can the M's pull the trifecta on the Yankees? It would be sweet to break out the brooms!

Another sunny day on the Pacific, should be at Kodiak by nightfall.  Saw many humpback whales today, bot not close enough for a good photo, darn, at least I have mental photos.

Hey yawl,
I decided to update friends and family of our status aboard the Mt. Mitchell.  We should be arriving in Kodiak sometime Saturday evening to pick up more scientists for our survey.  The weather has been decent thus far.  I haven't seen any whales or other aquatic life yet, just miles of blue ocean.  Plenty of time out here for mobilizing, reading, eating and sleeping. Hope all is well in Sea-town! M's please beat the Yanks
